The car collector world doesn't get to see concepts come up for auction very often, as manufacturers have long had a practice of destroying them, and because surviving examples tend to settle down in collections for decades at a time. The last mass selloff of manufacturer-owned vehicles took place in when General Motors was paring down its Heritage Fleet.

    But in just a few weeks, we're going to see an important collection cross the block, a collection that happens to contain a number of recent Ford Motor Co. And one of the cars headed to the auctionblock is the Lincoln Continental concept, arguably one of the most recognizable concepts from one of the Big Three automakers from the first half of the past decade. And the collection in question is the Sam Pack collection, easily one of the most extensive private compilations of Ford vehicles in North America.

    The Lincoln Continetal concept debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and was immediately recognized for effectively remixing the design of the Kennedy-era Continental with modern design language.
