If you are bothered by little ticking sounds or want a perfectly smooth motor then the version 7 is not for you. Most people take there time and money to have a strong motor that can handle det. User Tag List Reply. Ive been trying to find out info on full engine replacements for the wrx. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to start looking. Ive heard rumors of japan only wrx engines that redline at 9k. Ive read some stuff about v7 and v8 sti engines. I want to know about what options are out there, im really interested in 2. If any one knows anything im listening. Don't know to much but it's a start. Thanks Ian, that was a good start. Im still curious though if anyone else has heard about other crate engines.

I don't know the technical differences but here is a simple statement that I have concluded: The V7 STi motor at the current time has the potential to make more power than the V8 motor, but soon, the V8 motor will have more tuning potential than the V7. The V7 has forged internals. Basically this means you can get a lot of power out of the stock internals. Stock, this block will handle some high levels of boost pressure, and it will rev to or rpm.

It'll take a decent amount of abuse and loves to rev high. AVCS is wonderfull for expanding the torque curve to. There are several versions of the V7 block. This engine has the largest ports in the head for better flow. The V8 engine has all the attributes of the V7, however it does not have any forged internals. The V8 has hypereutectic pistons which provides for a much smoother running engine that likes to rev.

You will be able to get just as much, if not more power out of a V8 as you will out of a V7, however, there is not as much experiance tunning the V8 yet so power levels are typically not as high as a nice V7 RA. Of course, you could always wait and get a hold of one of the new V9's that are just about to hit our shores. There is a lot of technical info available on these units, you should treat this as a basic guide to the major differences.

The V8 has forged internals just the pistons are not forged. In addition it has a twin scroll turbo design. Look up Ebeck on Nasioc with his v8 set up when I last talked ot him he was at over whp, now he has an external wastegate and a few others.

I have talked about the difference between version 7 and 8 motors many times already. But if it were me i would just go with a version 7. Twin scroll is nice but is very limited most people end up swaping it out with just a normal single exhaust manifold. If you are bothered by little ticking sounds or want a perfectly smooth motor then the version 7 is not for you. Most people take there time and money to have a strong motor that can handle det.

Kingpin performance home of the whp stock block sti. Yeah the tuning potential of an H6 3. BB code is On. For the best viewing experience please update your browser to Google Chrome.
